DHQ visits Katsina, says slain ex-general’s sacrifice won’t be forgotten

Nigeria's Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has extended its condolences to the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.) and the Katsina State Government following the officer's death. A delegation, led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, visited Katsina on Sunday to convey the sympathies of the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The DHQ confirmed in a statement that Major General Abubakar, who previously served as the Director of Defence Information, was abducted and later died in captivity. During the visit to the family residence in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi described the deceased as a dedicated and patriotic officer who served the nation with distinction for over three decades. He emphasized that Abubakar's contributions to the Nigerian Army and the country's security architecture would not be forgotten.

He assured the family that the military and relevant security agencies would work diligently to ensure that those responsible for the General's death are apprehended and brought to justice.

As a mark of honor for his service and sacrifice, Major General Abdullahi presented a Nigerian flag to the family. Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, representing the family and the Katsina State government, expressed gratitude for the DHQ's visit and support during their difficult time. He acknowledged the inevitability of death and prayed for the peaceful repose of Major General Abubakar's soul.
