Diamonds disappointed Glasgow games only live on Seven's streaming service

Australian netball fans are expressing disappointment over the limited broadcast of the national team's Commonwealth Games matches. The Diamonds, a highly successful and popular team, have secured dominant wins in their opening games. However, these victories have been exclusively available on Seven Network's streaming service, 7Plus, rather than its traditional television channels. While Seven aired swimming heats and other programs during the netball games, fans wanting to watch the reigning gold medallists live have been directed to the digital platform. This has led to frustration among supporters and even the players themselves. Goalkeeper Courtney Bruce commented on the situation, stating, "That's obviously disappointing, obviously we want to be on TV and have every fan able to watch." Games debutant Jamie-Lee Price echoed this sentiment, hoping that increased fan pressure could lead to more televised games. She added, "We want to be on TV, we want eyes on our sport and if we can get that that's amazing."

Channel Seven defended its coverage, explaining that the simultaneous nature of the Commonwealth Games necessitates a multi-platform approach. A spokesperson highlighted that the network is offering "wall-to-wall coverage across Seven and 7plus Sport, including 15 live channels on 7plus Sport, ensuring Australians can watch every event live and free." Despite the broadcast issues, the Diamonds feel strong support from fans both in Glasgow and back home. Bruce noted, "We definitely feel the support from home, obviously we're nothing without the supporters back in Australia." The team's next match is against Malawi.
