Diana Shnaider stuns Aryna Sabalenka at French Open

Russian Diana Shnaider delivered another major upset at Roland Garros, defeating WTA world number one Aryna Sabalenka 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 to reach her first Grand Slam semifinal. The 23rd-ranked Shnaider battled back after losing the first set and holding a commanding lead in the second.

Sabalenka, the tournament's top seed and last year's finalist, seemed on course to advance. She secured the first set and led 5-3 in the second, holding serve to potentially close out the match. However, Shnaider increased her risk-taking and dramatically shifted the match's momentum. Sabalenka, in contrast, lost her confidence and capitulated in the final set, failing to win a single game.

Shnaider, who came through qualifying, will now face fellow left-hander Maja Chwalinska of Poland in the semifinals. Chwalinska, ranked 114th in the world, defeated Anna Kalinskaya 7-6(3), 6-3 to reach this stage.

With Sabalenka's exit, Mirra Andreeva is now the highest-ranked player remaining in the Paris tournament. Shnaider's victory marks a significant achievement for the young Russian, who has now reached the final four of a major tournament for the first time in her career.
