Dibusz Celebrates 500th Match as Ferencváros Secures Draw and Advances

Ferencváros goalkeeper Dénes Dibusz marked his 500th appearance for the club with a hard-fought draw against Dutch side Twente, a result that secured their progression in the competition. Despite playing with ten men for a considerable period, the Hungarian team managed to hold on for the draw.

"I would give this tie a five out of five on the scale," Dibusz stated after the match. "We knocked out an opponent made of very strong stuff, and I still say this is a huge thing. We had to mobilize great energy when down to ten men. This is a great success for the club and for Hungarian football."

He acknowledged that the team tired towards the end, especially after switching to a five-defender system. "Physically, they gained a huge advantage, which is why they equalized. We will learn from this for the future," Dibusz said, adding that the key was holding on for the remaining minutes after the equalizer. He commended both the players and the crowd.

Toon Raemaekers, who scored Ferencváros's first goal, described the match as initially controlled until the red card changed everything. "The red card was a very unfortunate incident. When down to ten men, we had to focus more on defense, which is how our second goal came," he explained. Raemaekers admitted the end was exciting, particularly when Twente attacked with three tall strikers.

Raemaekers also shared a humorous anecdote about taking the penalty. "It was my first penalty that I took not in a shootout. I almost forgot that I was designated to take it; someone had to tell me to go and take it," he recalled.
