Dickson to unveil NDC selection committee, host aspirants dinner

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to inaugurate its 21-member Selection Committee in Abuja on Monday, a move aimed at streamlining candidate selection for the upcoming general elections. National Leader of the party, Seriake Dickson, will preside over the inauguration, which follows the completion of screening exercises for governorship, National Assembly, and State Houses of Assembly aspirants.

The Committee, which was constituted last week, in furtherance of NDC’s avowed commitment to transparency, internal democracy, and credible candidate selection, is mandated to review, scrutinise, and consider the reports and recommendations of the National Screening Committee and the State Houses of Assembly Screening Committees.

The Selection Committee, constituted last week, is tasked with deepening internal democracy and strengthening the party's candidate selection process. According to a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Osa Director, the committee will review, scrutinize, and consider reports from the National Screening Committee and State Houses of Assembly Screening Committees. Its mandate includes making appropriate decisions on the screening outcomes to ensure credible representation.

The Selection Committee… is a brainchild of the NDC National Leader, working in concert with the recommendations of the National Working Committee, as part of ongoing preparations for the upcoming general elections.

Chaired by NDC National Chairman Sen. Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, the committee is described as a key product of recommendations from the National Working Committee, acting in line with directives from Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson. The party aims to ensure it presents formidable candidates for every position in the general election as part of broader reforms.
