Die Toten Hosen rock Hamburg on farewell tour with special guests

Under the motto "Trink Aus! Wir Müssen Gehen" (Drink Up! We Have to Go), tens of thousands of fans celebrated the German rock band Die Toten Hosen during their farewell tour stop in Hamburg. An estimated 35,000 fans gathered at the Bahrenfeld harness racing track to witness the band's energetic performance under summer temperatures.

Frontman Campino, addressing the crowd, emphasized the need to continue the show, recalling his first visit to Hamburg in June 1979. "Hamburg, we have always loved each other," he declared, expressing a long-standing connection with the city. The audience responded enthusiastically, with many fans being carried towards the stage.

The band delivered a setlist featuring beloved classics such as "Tage wie diese," "Bonnie & Clyde," and "Hier kommt Alex," alongside more recent tracks. Campino introduced the song "Wannsee" with a grin, suggesting that those with the Rhine or Elbe rivers have no need for a small pond like Wannsee. He frequently engaged with the audience throughout the performance.

The concert featured a notable lineup of guest artists during the encore. Rapper Marteria was the first to join, followed by Bela B from the band Die Ärzte, with whom Die Toten Hosen performed "Schrei nach Liebe." Bela B humorously recounted Campino encouraging him to drink a "Rotweinschorle" (red wine spritzer). Schlager legend Vicky Leandros also took the stage to sing Die Toten Hosen's song "Ich liebe das Leben" (I Love Life).

The "Trink Aus! Wir Müssen Gehen" tour continues to several other cities this year, including Dresden and Vienna. The band's final stadium concert is tentatively scheduled for July 2027 in their hometown of Düsseldorf. Die Toten Hosen, who rose to prominence in the early 1980s, have been a defining force in German rock and punk music, achieving their commercial breakthrough in 1988 with "Hier kommt Alex."
