Diego Forlán opens door for Luis Suárez's return to Uruguay squad

Diego Forlán, the interim coach of the Uruguayan national football team, has opened the door for a potential return of veteran striker Luis Suárez. Forlán stated that he does not dismiss the possibility of including Suárez, Uruguay's all-time leading scorer, in the squad. He highlighted Suárez's extensive experience and his undiminished capacity to find the back of the net. In his first press conference since taking temporary charge of 'La Celeste,' Forlán responded to questions about Suárez's potential comeback. "I have enormous affection for Luis. We have a lot of confidence. If he is selectable, he is Uruguayan. Having a player like Luis, with experience, who scores goals and continues to demonstrate it every weekend he plays, why not?" Forlán said. He emphasized Suárez's undeniable status in Uruguayan football, stating, "Nobody will question what Luis is." The 39-year-old Suárez himself had previously indicated his openness to rejoining the national team, reportedly saying on April 1 that he would "never say no to the national team" if needed. Former coach Marcelo Bielsa had not selected Suárez for the team prior to the World Cup.
