Digicel Group appoints Salvador Hierrezuelo as group chief business officer

Digicel Group has appointed telecommunications executive Salvador “Salva” Hierrezuelo as its group chief business officer, effective Sept. 1, 2026.

Hierrezuelo joins the Jamaica-based company after more than 20 years at Telefónica. Most recently, he led Movistar Empresas at Telefónica Chile, overseeing business services for large companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, and the public sector.

Before moving to Chile, he served as chief operating officer of Telefónica Tech in Brazil, where he led the development of its cloud and technology business. His earlier positions covered enterprise technology, infrastructure and security, customer engineering, strategy and mergers and acquisitions.

Hierrezuelo, who is originally from Málaga, Spain, said he was “very excited” to join Digicel and work with a company serving markets across the Caribbean and Central America. He holds an International MBA from IE Business School and a master’s degree in telecommunications engineering from the University of Málaga. He speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese.
