Digital Dashboard Defect Affects Driving Safety; Lexus Recalls Some UX300h Models

Lexus has announced a safety recall for certain UX300h models in Taiwan, addressing a flaw in the vehicle's 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The issue stems from insufficient consideration in the control program's design, which can lead to premature degradation of circuit board components after prolonged use.

This degradation may result in abnormal instrument display, potentially compromising driving safety. Specifically, if the multi-information display malfunctions, critical areas of the instrument panel could go black. This would prevent the proper display of essential indicators such as engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, hybrid system status, and other warning messages.

The recall affects 7,375 vehicles manufactured between September 14, 2023, and July 30, 2025. Lexus stated that drivers might not notice critical instrument warnings if the system fails during operation, increasing the risk of collisions or injuries. Consequently, the company decided to proactively conduct this safety recall.

Lexus began notifying affected owners by registered mail on July 13, 2026. Owners are advised to schedule a free software update at a Lexus service center, which is expected to take approximately 1.6 hours. The company urges owners to book appointments promptly to ensure the instrument cluster functions correctly and maintains driving safety.
