Dilek İmamoğlu decries X account block as censorship

Dilek İmamoğlu has strongly condemned the recent blocking of her husband Ekrem İmamoğlu's X (formerly Twitter) account, labeling it a clear act of censorship.

In a social media post, she asserted that the move restricts her husband's ability to communicate with the public, coming after his freedom of movement had already been curtailed. "You have taken away the freedom of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the presidential candidate of millions. Now you are once again closing the paths for his voice to reach the citizens," she stated.

İmamoğlu argued that the renewed access restriction to Ekrem İmamoğlu's X account demonstrates the re-implementation of censorship policies targeting freedom of expression. She emphasized that a state operating under the rule of law should focus on upholding legal processes and guaranteeing fundamental rights, rather than resorting to account closures.

The statement reflects a broader concern about democratic freedoms and the use of digital platforms for political discourse in Turkey.
