Dinamo learns third qualifying round opponent: Former Hajduk player scores winner for Sopić's club

Croatian forward Leon Kreković became the hero for Lithuanian champions Kauno Žalgiris, scoring the decisive goal in their Champions League second qualifying round match against Klaksvik. The former Hajduk Split player found the net in the 85th minute, securing a narrow 1-0 victory in the second leg.

With the first leg ending in a draw, Kreković's late strike proved to be the difference, propelling Žalgiris into the third qualifying round. There, they are set to face Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb, who also secured their passage by defeating Thun 3-2 on aggregate.

The Lithuanian club boasts a significant Croatian presence. Besides Kreković, Ivan Fiolić, a former Dinamo and Lokomotiva player, is also part of the squad. The team is managed by Željko Sopić, who took over as head coach last month. Sopić has maintained an unbeaten record in his seven matches at the helm, with four wins and three draws.

Žalgiris will play the first leg of their tie against Dinamo Zagreb at home in Maksimir, before traveling to Lithuania for the return fixture on August 4th and 11th.
