Diomande Agrees Real Madrid Terms as PSG Steps Away

Real Madrid has reached an agreement on personal terms with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, signaling a significant move in the transfer market. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international's potential transfer to the Spanish club comes after Paris Saint-Germain decided to withdraw their interest, opting out of a bidding war.

Liverpool had previously shown interest in Diomande, with an initial bid of £69 million rejected in June. However, the Premier League club has since pursued other targets, and PSG's withdrawal leaves Real Madrid as the frontrunner.

Sources close to Real Madrid indicate that key negotiators Jose Angel and Juni Calafat have been monitoring Diomande for approximately five years. While they were not directly influenced by his World Cup performances, the club has now moved to secure the player. Real Madrid is expected to pay over £100 million for Diomande, with his contract reportedly modeled after Jude Bellingham's, featuring performance-based incentives that increase year-on-year.

Diomande joined Leipzig last summer from Spanish club Leganes on a five-year deal. He was named the Bundesliga's young player of the season for 2025-26, contributing 12 goals and eight assists last term. Leipzig, despite efforts to retain the forward, found it difficult to reject the extraordinary interest and potential record sale price from elite European clubs.
