Direct express train service between Narita and Haneda airports planned for 2030s

Japan is set to introduce a new direct express train service linking its two major airports, Narita and Haneda, with operations expected to begin in the 2030s. This development, reported by Kyodo News, aims to significantly reduce travel time between the airports, which currently takes approximately 1.5 hours by express train.

The project involves Keisei Electric Railway, which plans to introduce new express trains between Narita Airport Station in Chiba Prefecture and Oshiage Station in Tokyo's Sumida Ward by fiscal year 2028. Subsequently, in the 2030s, these trains will extend their service to directly connect with the Toei Asakusa Line and Keikyu Line, ultimately reaching Haneda Airport.

This new rail link is strategically designed to improve the travel experience for international visitors. By enabling easier transfers from Narita Airport to domestic flights at Haneda, the service aims to provide a more seamless journey for passengers heading to various cities across Japan. The initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure and accessibility.
