Director Jang Hang-jun Accepts Collaboration Offer from Bong Joon-ho

Director Jang Hang-jun has shared that acclaimed filmmaker Bong Joon-ho approached him with a proposal for a collaborative project. Jang disclosed this during his appearance as a guest on the MBC radio show 'Son Suk-hee's 12 o'clock' on July 13th, where he also spoke about his recent film's box office success and his personal choices for life-defining movies.

A while ago, Director Bong and I had dinner together. The fact that the two of us had dinner means it's quite special.

Jang recounted a recent dinner with Bong Joon-ho, describing the meeting as significant. He noted Bong's distinct aura, remarking, "I felt like I couldn't possibly get close to this person." When host Son Suk-hee inquired about the purpose of their meeting, Jang explained that Bong had a request for him, choosing to meet over dinner for something that could have been handled over the phone.

He said he had something to ask of me. He said he'd buy me a meal even though it was something that could have been done over the phone.

Intrigued by Bong's request, Jang admitted he wondered why Bong would reach out for something that didn't seem like a major issue. Upon meeting, Bong presented Jang with a proposal, which Jang has accepted. While the specifics of the project and its timeline are not yet finalized or cleared for public announcement, Jang hinted that it involves a slightly different dynamic than a typical producer-director relationship. He anticipates that more details will be revealed to the media soon, though he cautioned that the project might not be as grand as some might expect, potentially leading to disappointment if expectations are too high.
