DJ Barbara Butch, 'in shock' after concert interruption, plans to perform Saturday

DJ Barbara Butch described herself as "still in shock" following the interruption of her concert in Grenoble last weekend by pro-Palestinian activists. The artist, however, affirmed her intention to perform as scheduled at a festival in Yonne this Saturday, promising to do so "with panache."

I am still in shock. I did not expect such violence.

The incident occurred during her Grenoble concert when activists, associated with La France Insoumise (LFI) and responding to a boycott call, disrupted her performance. They cited her planned participation in an event at the French ambassador's residence in Israel in 2025 and her signing of a tribune supporting a law to combat new forms of antisemitism as reasons for the protest.

Butch stated on BFMTV that she did not anticipate such "violence" and expressed that she is "still in shock." She believes there has been a significant escalation of antisemitism in France over the past three years, reaching a "climax."

Her lawyer confirmed that legal complaints are being prepared. The DJ met with the Minister of Culture, Catherine Pégard, who pledged to protect her "integrity" and "conditions of expression as an artist."

She was chased off stage because she is Jewish. They have been putting targets on the backs of Jewish French people since October 7, 2023.

Despite being under protection, which she clarified is not police-led, Butch is set to perform at a festival in Saint-Martin-du-Tertre, Yonne, organized by a local association. She stated her intention to continue spreading messages of "peace, love, hope" and declared, "I will not yield to this fear they are trying to make me feel."
