The initiative seeks to counter the narrative that President Donald Trump successfully leveraged similar economic anxieties to win the White House.

The events include school supply giveaways, food bank drives, and voter outreach in neighborhoods. Democrats plan to "reach, engage, register, and mobilize voters who will make the difference in races up and down the ballot."

This effort comes as inflation remains a significant issue for many Americans. An AP-NORC poll in June found about 7 in 10 U.S. adults view the country's economy as "poor," an increase from March. While slightly more adults believe Democrats would handle inflation better than Republicans, a significant portion remains undecided or believes both parties would perform similarly.

However, his handling of the economy garners less approval than earlier in his term, according to the AP-NORC poll.
