Doctor's family reports intimidation, hopes to protect healthcare workers

The family of the late Dr. Eliza Princila Utama Pakaenoni, or Dr. Icha, has filed a report with the NTT Regional Police, seeking to prevent further intimidation and abuse against healthcare workers. Gabriel Pakaenoni, Dr. Icha's father, expressed his hope that the report will ensure medical professionals are no longer subjected to verbal or physical harassment while performing their duties.

With the report, it is hoped that there will no longer be torture and intimidation against healthcare workers, verbally or physically, in health facilities.

Viktor Manbait, a family representative, stated that the report was filed to fulfill Dr. Icha's dying wish to protect her colleagues. The family, including Dr. Icha's parents and two sisters, Tiara and Elyn Pakaenoni, aims to safeguard healthcare workers serving in facilities where Dr. Icha allegedly experienced mistreatment.

Investigations into the alleged intimidation have identified four individuals: three members of the TTU Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) and one civil servant veterinarian from the TTU Animal Husbandry Office. The DPRD members are Therezius Lazakar, Robert Tubani, and Veronika Lake, while the veterinarian is Maria Mathildis Sau.

The father, mother, and two sisters of Dr. Icha, Tiara and Elyn, all came to the NTT Regional Police to fulfill the late Dr. Icha's wish to protect healthcare workers providing health services in the facilities where she experienced torture and intimidation.

AKBP Samuel Simbolon, Deputy Director of the NTT Police's Women and Child Protection and Human Trafficking Eradication unit, confirmed that the investigation into the alleged perpetrators is ongoing. He stated that examinations of witnesses and evidence from the scene, likely the emergency room, will be conducted as the investigation progresses. The family arrived at the police station with a framed photograph of Dr. Icha.
