Documentary on 'Gilmore Girls' in the works, featuring star Lauren Graham

Fans of the beloved early 2000s series "Gilmore Girls" will soon have a new way to revisit the world of Lorelai and Rory. HBO Max is preparing a documentary that delves into the making of the hit family drama, which originally aired on The WB Television Network.

The documentary has secured participation from key figures behind the show, including creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. Actress Lauren Graham, who famously portrayed the fast-talking innkeeper Lorelai Gilmore, is also confirmed to be involved. This project is notable for having the authorization of the Palladinos, as other production companies have reportedly considered similar documentaries.

Directed by acclaimed American filmmaker Bonnie Cohen, a co-founder of Actual Films, the documentary promises to uncover the series' origins and explore lesser-known details. While the documentary's title and release date remain undisclosed, it is expected to offer fans a deeper look into the show that has maintained a dedicated following for years.

In addition to the documentary, the Palladinos are also working on a book related to "Gilmore Girls," which is scheduled to be published in October 2027. The series, which aired from 2000 to 2006, centered on the lives of Lorelai and her daughter Rory in the fictional town of Star Hollow.
