Dodgers recall 208cm pitcher Sheehan, send him back down after 3 days

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a roster move, recalling pitcher Emmet Sheehan from their Triple-A affiliate. Sheehan, a 26-year-old right-hander, stands at an imposing 208 centimeters (6 feet 10 inches) tall. His return to the major league roster comes just three days after he was optioned down to Triple-A.

Sheehan's previous stint in the majors was brief. He was initially sent down on August 4th following a start against the Boston Red Sox on August 3rd, where he struggled, pitching only 2.2 innings and allowing 5 runs. His recall on August 19th was to provide depth after closer Edwin Díaz was placed on the injured list.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts explained the decision to send Sheehan back down, stating that he will resume his role as a starting pitcher in Triple-A. "We need him to maintain his status as a starting pitcher," Roberts said, emphasizing the importance of consistent game action for Sheehan's development.

In 20 major league appearances this season, all as a starter, Sheehan compiled a 4-8 record with a 5.29 ERA over 95.1 innings. He allowed 93 hits, including 20 home runs, and recorded 108 strikeouts against 30 walks. His ERA+ was 77, and his FIP stood at 4.75. The Dodgers also called up 26-year-old right-handed pitcher Paul Gervase, who has pitched 7.2 innings in the majors this season with a 2.35 ERA.
