Dodgers' Teoscar Hernández lands on injured list; Ryan Ward to be recalled

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed two-time All-Star slugger Teoscar Hernández on the injured list due to a left hamstring strain. Hernández sustained the injury during Tuesday's game while running the bases after a seventh-pitch at-bat. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Hernández is expected to be sidelined for several weeks, with no immediate timetable for his return.

Hernández, who has hit 224 career home runs, was injured in the second inning of Tuesday's game. The team is looking to fill the void left by his absence by calling up prospect Ryan Ward from their Triple-A affiliate. Ward is currently ranked as the 19th best prospect in the Dodgers' farm system.

Ward previously made a brief appearance in the majors earlier this season when Freddie Freeman took paternity leave. During that short stint, Ward played in two games, recording two hits in six at-bats with one RBI and one strikeout. Last year, Ward was named the Pacific Coast League MVP after a strong season where he hit 36 home runs and posted an OPS of .937.

This season, Ward has played in 47 games for Oklahoma City, batting .254 with a .379 on-base percentage and a .418 slugging percentage, contributing six home runs and 31 RBIs. His call-up marks an opportunity for the 28-year-old to make a more significant impact in the major leagues.
