Dogs attack telecom technician during installation work

Ajani Taiwo went to a site in Benin City to install MTN network equipment. Instead, he was attacked by three dogs shortly after the entrance was opened.

The incident occurred in the Okhoro area of Edo State on Thursday. Taiwo had contacted the person responsible for the site’s power supply at about 3 p.m. to gain access. The dogs reportedly charged at him when the gate was opened.

Their owner, identified as Ughanlunen Sandra, intervened, while neighbours responded to Taiwo’s cries for help and helped pull him away. He was taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment after suffering injuries, including a wound to his head.

Eno Ikoedem, a spokesperson for the Edo State police command, confirmed the attack and said Sandra had been arrested after Taiwo filed a formal complaint. “As the door was opened, about three dogs attacked him before the owner, Ughanlunen Sandra, arrived at the scene,” Ikoedem said.

Police have begun investigating the circumstances of the attack. Ikoedem also cautioned dog owners and breeders to keep their animals under adequate control and supervision to protect members of the public.
