Dolly Parton’s Wikipedia page vandalized with antisemitic content hours after her death

The vandalism included replacing her profile photo with a Nazi swastika, changing her name to "Jew lover," and altering her display title to reference Adam Lanza, the perpetrator of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. One screenshot showed a Google search result listing her Wikipedia page title as "Dolly Parton - Adam Lanza was a hero."

Wikipedia quickly identified and reversed the edits using its revision-history safeguards, restoring the page to its proper state. While some social media posts characterized the profile as having been "hacked," Wikipedia operates as an open-source collaborative encyclopedia. During major breaking news events, sudden traffic surges can temporarily outpace active administrative oversight, allowing opportunistic users to manually alter text fields, display titles, and images until moderators or automated filters execute rollbacks.
