Dominican Republic crushes Mexico Verde to stay perfect in Caribbean Series Kids

The Dominican Republic showcased its baseball prowess in the Serie del Caribe Kids, decisively defeating Mexico Verde 14-2 by the mercy rule. The team established an early lead with an explosive offense in the first inning and maintained control throughout the game, largely thanks to a stellar performance by Nolbis Marcos.

Marcos was the standout player at the Estadio Coloso del Pacífico Don Alejo Peralta. The Dominican shortstop hit two home runs and was responsible for three runs, crossing home plate three times himself. He demonstrated remarkable versatility, hitting one home run as a left-handed batter and another as a right-handed batter, bringing his tournament total to three homers.

The Dominican team wasted no time in asserting dominance, scoring five runs in the first inning. Mexico Verde, represented by the Jaguares de Nayarit, attempted a comeback in the second inning, scoring their only two runs of the game. However, the Dominican response was swift, with an additional run in that inning to regain firm control.

The decisive blow came in the third inning when the Dominican Republic scored eight runs, creating a significant lead and ultimately triggering the mercy rule. The Dominican team amassed nine hits and capitalized on four errors by the Mexican defense, while committing only one error themselves. Melvin Cabrera earned the win as a reliever, while Gael Hernández took the loss.

This victory carried extra significance, extending the Dominican Republic's winning streak in the Serie del Caribe Kids to 15 consecutive games since 2024. It also marked a historic moment for the tournament, being only the sixth game to end by the mercy rule and the fourth in which a Dominican team achieved victory in this manner. With two games played, the Dominican Republic holds a perfect 2-0 record, leading the standings.
