Don Ritto's Lawyers Claim Owners of Seized Gold, Dollars Will Sue

The legal team representing Don Ritto is preparing to challenge the Attorney General's Office's seizure of assets, including gold and foreign currency. Handika Hanggowongso, a lawyer for Ritto, announced that the owners of the confiscated cash and gold will file a "prapid" lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court.

Hanggowongso criticized the "Tim 9" (Team 9) formed by the Attorney General's Office for what he called a "premature" decision to link the seized assets to former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. He asserted that the money and gold, found in various locations including a restaurant, money changers, and a residence in Sentul, do not belong to Adriansyah.

"The facts regarding the amount of money found in the seizure and search... according to our client and other evidence, are not related or connected to Mr. Febrie," Hanggowongso stated. He emphasized that his client has explained the origin and intended use of these assets, and that investigators should have first verified the connection of the evidence formally and materially.

The Attorney General's Office seized 74 kg of gold bars, Rp6 billion in cash, and millions of US and Singapore dollars from Adriansyah's residence in early July. These seizures are part of an investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering involving Adriansyah and Ritto, who is also a suspect. Ritto's legal team maintains that the assets are not linked to Adriansyah.
