For instance, classic planters can be made by cutting off the top, adding drainage holes, and decorating the exterior. Vertical gardens can be created by cutting rectangular openings in the side of a jug laid horizontally against a wall, filling it with soil, and securely hanging it.

Even a simple homemade watering can is possible. By making several small holes in the cap with a heated nail, you can create a functional watering can for your plants.
