Dong Thap Chairman and Hue Police Director Appointed Deputy Government Inspectors General

Vietnam’s Government Inspectorate has two new deputy inspectors general: Phạm Thành Ngại, chairman of the Dong Thap provincial People’s Committee, and Nguyễn Thanh Tuấn, director of Hue City Police.

The prime minister’s decisions were announced at a ceremony on Sept. 7. Deputy Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu expressed confidence that both officials would use their experience to fulfill their new responsibilities alongside the inspectorate’s leadership and staff.

Speaking on behalf of the two appointees, Ngại called the appointments both a great honor and a major responsibility. He said the inspection sector faces a need for comprehensive reform, shifting from simply identifying violations to helping improve institutions and national governance.

Issues within our authority will be considered and resolved promptly and in accordance with regulations. Issues beyond our authority will be proactively reported and proposed, without evading or shifting responsibility or allowing delays.

Ngại said the two officials came from different professional backgrounds. Tuấn developed his career in the People’s Public Security forces, while Ngại spent many years working in local party and government agencies. He acknowledged that these experiences were only an initial foundation for the increasingly demanding work of the inspectorate.

Ngại pledged to study his assigned duties urgently and said matters within his authority would be handled promptly and according to regulations. Issues beyond his authority, he said, would be reported and proposed for action without evading responsibility, shifting blame or allowing delays. He said his immediate focus would be accelerating inspections and bringing cases to a definitive resolution.
