Dong Thap Hosts Provincial Fruit Festival Showcasing Local Produce and Culture

Dong Thap province in Vietnam is set to host a significant provincial-level fruit festival, commencing on June 5 at Hung Vuong Square in Dao Thanh ward. The opening ceremony promises a grand spectacle, deeply rooted in the local "garden house" culture, aiming to leave a lasting impression on both residents and visitors.

The festival boasts 9 main activities and 12 supporting events, encompassing various competitions, workshops, and exhibitions dedicated to Dong Thap's diverse culinary offerings from its fruits. A major attraction will be the "Story of the River," a water music, light, and mapping projection show scheduled for the evenings of June 6 and 7. This performance will highlight Dong Thap's land, people, culture, and signature agricultural products, reinforcing its position as a vital fruit-producing hub in the Mekong Delta.

Beyond the visual spectacles, the festival will feature a comprehensive exhibition tracing the entire value chain of the fruit industry. This includes displays of scientific and technological advancements in production and processing, agricultural machinery, specialized seeds, and input materials. Visitors can explore key orchards, view processed fruit products, learn about fruit exporting companies, and discover high-value local fruits.

Specialty and key fruits such as mango, durian, rambutan, plum, jackfruit, longan, star apple, pomelo, and dragon fruit will be showcased. A unique event, "Gắn tuổi cho cây, cho quả" (Attaching age to trees, to fruit) with the theme "Tree Life - Human Life," will honor long-standing orchards, featuring a catalog of fruit trees aged 20 years or older within the province. The festival aims to enhance the competitiveness of Dong Thap's agricultural products and celebrate its rich agricultural heritage.
