Dortmund and Elversberg complete thrilling Bundesliga comebacks

Borussia Dortmund overturned a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 at Hoffenheim, while promoted Elversberg produced an even more dramatic comeback at Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday.

Hoffenheim moved 2-0 ahead 10 minutes into the second half through Tim Lemperle and Leon Avdullahu. Serhou Guirassy pulled one back before Fabio Silva equalised after 66 minutes. Four minutes from time, Hoffenheim defender Albian Hajdari tried to clear a low ball in the box but turned it into his own net.

Elversberg won 4-3 at Moenchengladbach despite playing half the match with 10 men. Hugo Bolin scored twice in the first half to put the home side 2-1 ahead, with David Mokwa scoring for the visitors. Elversberg lost Vincent Wagner to a second yellow card in first-half stoppage time, but Maurice Krattenmacher and Felix Keidel levelled the game after Joe Scally had extended the home side’s lead. Krattenmacher then fired into the bottom corner in the 92nd minute to complete the comeback.

Bayer Leverkusen recorded their first points of the season with a 4-0 win over Union Berlin. Ezequiel Fernández scored inside a minute, Facundo Medina added a second before halftime, and Patrik Schick and Ibrahim Maza finished the scoring.

Werder Bremen beat RB Leipzig 3-1 through goals from Eren Dinkci, Niclas Fullkrug and Marco Grull. Maximilian Eggestein scored Freiburg’s only goal in a 1-0 win at Paderborn. Champions Bayern Munich were due to visit Schalke later Saturday.
