Dortmund confirms Adeyemi released for transfer talks amid Barcelona links

Karim Adeyemi appears poised to leave Borussia Dortmund for Spanish champions FC Barcelona. The German club confirmed the speedy winger was granted leave for transfer negotiations, fueling speculation about his imminent move.

Reports from football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sky, and Bild indicate an agreement is in place. The deal is reportedly valued at 22 million euros, with an additional seven million euros in potential bonuses. Adeyemi, whose current contract with Dortmund expires in 2027, had informed the club of his desire to leave.

Adeyemi joined Dortmund four years ago from Red Bull Salzburg for approximately 30 million euros. He previously played under Hansi Flick, who first called him up to the German national team in September 2021. Adeyemi has earned 11 caps for Germany and scored 36 goals in 146 competitive matches for Dortmund, including seven in the past season. He was part of the Dortmund squad that reached the Champions League final in the 2023/24 season, losing to Real Madrid.

At Barcelona, Adeyemi will face stiff competition from young star Lamine Yamal and recent signing Anthony Gordon.
