DPR Chairman Praises 'Historic' Hajj Services in 2026

Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal, Chairman of the DPR's Hajj Oversight Team and Deputy Speaker of the House, has lauded the Indonesian government's provision of Hajj services for pilgrims in 2026. He described the execution and services as historically improved, marking a significant step forward in pilgrimage management.

The oversight conducted by the DPR Hajj Oversight Team this year has succeeded in finding historical records of improvements in Hajj pilgrim services.

Syamsurizal attributed these enhancements in service delivery to the recent establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah by President Prabowo Subianto. The DPR Oversight Team observed that the new ministry, along with all Hajj officials, successfully managed the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage from the initial departure from Indonesia through services in Madinah and Makkah, culminating in the smooth transfer to Arafah.

He expressed gratitude that all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims could reach Arafah and perform their pilgrimage smoothly.

After Law Number 14 of 2025 was born, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's concern began preparations in such long stages, carrying out a transformation from the old ministry. And thank God the result is now, we can see the transformation leaps that have been felt by all Muslims who are performing wukuf in Arafah.

Syamsurizal emphasized that despite the perceived perfection, the DPR and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will continue to synergize and collaborate. Their ongoing efforts aim to further refine and perfect services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, ensuring a more comfortable worship experience in the future. This collaboration will extend to discussions on the cost of organizing the Hajj pilgrimage and necessary upgrades to various components of the service.
