DPR Commission IX Denies Involvement in BGN Corruption: 'It's Hoax Information'

Yahya Zaini, Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), has vehemently denied any involvement in the alleged corruption surrounding the management of the free nutritious meal (MBG) program. Zaini's name surfaced on social media, listed among more than 20 individuals purportedly linked to the corruption case. He asserted that the information is false and that no members of Commission IX are implicated in corruption related to the Nutrition Program Management (BGN). "It's not true, all members of Commission IX are not involved in corruption at BGN. That information is hoaks," Zaini stated in a phone interview. Another Commission IX member, Irma Chaniago, also refuted claims of her involvement circulating online. The case involves allegations of irregularities in the MBG program's management, including the appointment of unqualified partners and inflated prices for goods. The Attorney General's Office has previously named former Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana, Sony Sonjaya, and Lodewyk Pusung as suspects. Sony Sonjaya, a former Deputy Head of BGN, has applied to become a justice collaborator, offering to assist investigators in uncovering other parties allegedly involved in the scheme. His lawyer, Krisna Murti, indicated that Sonjaya has provided investigators with over 20 names connected to the case during his examination.
