Drain Nové Mlýny? I Support Raising the Water Level, Says Head of Moravian Fishermen

Miroslav Láníček, the head of the Moravian Fishermen's Association, has firmly stated his opposition to the idea of draining two of the three Nové Mlýny reservoirs, a proposal put forth by some experts.

Láníček described the potential draining as "completely unimaginable," emphasizing that such a move would result in the loss of the association's most significant fishing grounds. While not entirely dismissing the need for water management solutions, he believes the core issues are not addressed by this specific proposal.

"I am not against such a solution, because it would deprive the association of its largest fishing grounds," Láníček explained, highlighting the direct impact on the livelihoods of his members. He indicated that the problems requiring attention are located elsewhere, suggesting that a different approach is necessary for effective water resource management in the region.
