Singer Drake Bell is facing legal trouble in Mexico, with a businessman filing a complaint for alleged extortion and threats. The complaint, lodged by Aitor García with the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office for Extortion Crimes, accuses Bell and his partner, Ela Vidal, of orchestrating a public smear campaign against García.

According to the legal documents cited by the magazine "TVyNovelas," García alleges that Bell and Vidal spread false information suggesting Vidal and García had a romantic relationship and that Vidal was expecting his child. The complaint also states that the couple attempted to pressure García into paying $10,000, an accusation now part of the ongoing investigation.

This legal challenge comes years after Bell faced legal proceedings in the United States, where he pleaded guilty in 2021 to charges of attempted child endangerment and received probation and financial penalties. Neither Bell nor Vidal have publicly addressed the new allegations in Mexico.
