Drake Bell turns 40 amid relationship rumors and lawsuit

As former child star Drake Bell approaches his 40th birthday, his personal life appears tumultuous, marked by potential relationship strife and legal battles. Bell, who gained international fame as one half of the Nickelodeon series "Drake & Josh," has reportedly been experiencing difficulties with his partner, Mexican influencer Ela Vidal. The couple, who began dating in 2023, are rumored to be separating amid allegations of infidelity on Vidal's part, though neither has confirmed the news.

Adding to Bell's challenges, his ex-manager, Aitor García, has filed a lawsuit against him in Mexico City. García alleges that Bell is attempting to extort him by questioning the paternity of Vidal's unborn child, which García claims has damaged his reputation. García believes this is a tactic to force him into paying $10,000 to resolve the dispute.

Bell's career has been shadowed by controversy for years. In 2024, he revealed in the documentary "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV" that he was a victim of sexual and physical abuse by Brian Peck, a dialogue coach at Nickelodeon. This disclosure shed light on the darker aspects of the entertainment industry for young performers.

Further legal issues include a 2021 conviction in Ohio for sending inappropriate messages and content to a 15-year-old. Bell pleaded guilty to child endangerment and disseminating harmful material, receiving two years of probation and community service. He was also arrested twice for driving under the influence, in 2009 and 2015. His ex-partner, Melissa Lingafelt, accused him of physical and verbal abuse in 2020, which Bell denied. Despite these challenges, Bell has maintained a career, particularly in Mexico, where he has found considerable fan support, even temporarily adopting the name Drake Campana.
