Drink Driver Crashes Off Embankment Onto Beach, Escapes Unharmed

A driver in Aldinga Beach, South Australia, narrowly escaped injury after crashing her car into a timber guardrail, tumbling over an embankment, and landing on the beach in the early hours of Sunday. The 32-year-old woman was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police responded to the incident on The Esplanade shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, they administered a breath test to the driver, who registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.110. This reading is more than twice the legal limit of 0.05.

Despite the severity of the crash, which saw one of the timber posts penetrate the car's windscreen, the woman from Aldinga Beach sustained no physical injuries. She has been reported by police for drink driving and driving without due care. As a consequence, she has been issued an immediate six-month suspension of her driver's license.

The vehicle was towed from the scene. Authorities are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with information regarding the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
