Driver arrested in North Macedonia for excessive speeding

North Macedonian police have arrested a driver and confiscated their vehicle after catching them traveling at an extremely high speed. The incident occurred on the Tetovo-Gostivar road, a route where speed limits are strictly enforced.

During a routine patrol using a "presretač" (speed detection vehicle), officers measured the suspect's car traveling at 179 kilometers per hour. This speed was recorded in an area with a posted limit of 80 kilometers per hour, meaning the driver was exceeding the limit by 99 km/h.

The driver, identified as L.M., a 27-year-old from Tetovo, was apprehended at the scene. Following instructions from the public prosecutor, the driver was taken into custody. The vehicle, a Mercedes with Tetovo license plates, was seized as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.

The driver will face legal consequences as stipulated by the Criminal Code of North Macedonia. Authorities emphasized their commitment to road safety and deterring reckless driving through strict enforcement and penalties.
