Driver Overturns Vehicle on Calzada de Tlalpan After Suffering Physical Distress

A driver in Mexico City suffered a physical ailment, leading to a single-vehicle accident that disrupted traffic on Calzada de Tlalpan. The incident occurred near the intersection with Pedro Arvizu street in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood of the Coyoacán alcaldía.

The driver, estimated to be between 50 and 55 years old, was operating a blue Kia Soul when he reportedly experienced a sudden physical discomfort. This caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The car struck the curb, the chain-link fence of the Light Rail (Tren Ligero) near the Nezahualpilli station, and a tree, before flipping onto its side.

Remarkably, several passersby intervened before official emergency responders could reach the scene. These individuals managed to lift the overturned vehicle and place it back on its wheels.

Police, traffic officials, auxiliary police, civil protection, firefighters, and paramedics from the ERUM emergency medical service responded to the incident. After assessing the driver, medical personnel diagnosed him with multiple contusions and a hypertensive crisis. Despite the recommendation for specialized hospital care, the driver declined to be transported by ambulance.

Authorities arranged for a tow truck to move the vehicle from the roadway, while awaiting the arrival of the driver's insurance company. The accident caused partial disruptions to traffic in the area.
