Drivers urged to be cautious as Veraguas sees rise in traffic accidents

Authorities in the Panamanian province of Veraguas have issued a renewed call for drivers to exercise extreme caution amid a noticeable increase in traffic accidents. The incidents are occurring frequently, particularly along the Pan-American Highway but also on the main streets within the province's cities.

Donys Gutiérrez, head of Operations for the Veraguas Fire Department, urged drivers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and adjust their driving habits to the road conditions, especially with the arrival of the first rains. "A call for attention is made to all drivers to take safety measures and respect the rules of the road. Now that the first downpours are falling, the streets become a bit slippery. In dark places, please, drive defensively to avoid these types of accidents that are happening lately," Gutiérrez stated.

According to official reports, accidents are not limited to nighttime hours but are also occurring during the day. This has led emergency services to reiterate the importance of maintaining prudence behind the wheel at all times. They implore drivers to reduce their speed when weather conditions demand it, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and avoid risky maneuvers.
