Driving instructor faces review for wrong-lane driving, challenging police

Authorities are reviewing the case of a driving instructor in Hanoi who allegedly drove in a motorcycle lane and confronted traffic police, questioning their authority.

The instructor, identified as K.C.T., was using his personal car to provide driving practice to another individual, L.T.G. The incident occurred on May 29 near the Phu Dong gas station on National Highway 1. The vehicle reportedly entered a motorcycle-only lane, prompting traffic police to stop them for inspection.

During the interaction, K.C.T. allegedly made inappropriate remarks to the officers. A video clip of the confrontation, posted by K.C.T. on his social media, showed him repeatedly asking the police officer, "Do you know me?" Despite the officer explaining it was a motorcycle lane, K.C.T. persisted, stating, "I don't know you but you're talking about the car lane?" He further challenged the officer, saying, "I don't care, I live here, I'm in a hurry, I'm not parking, I'm driving, do you want to arrest me now?"

The clip, which garnered mixed reactions online, was deleted by K.C.T. approximately 20 minutes after posting. The Hanoi Traffic Police Department's Road Traffic Safety Team No. 5 has summoned K.C.T. for questioning. They are investigating whether K.C.T. violated regulations concerning the recruitment and training of driving instructors. Additionally, they are examining L.T.G.'s violation of driving in the wrong lane and any other potential offenses.
