Drone targets fuel tank at Zawiya oil complex in latest attack, Libya's NOC says

Libya's Zawiya oil refinery, the nation's largest operational facility, was targeted by a drone strike on Tuesday, according to the National Oil Corporation (NOC). This incident represents the fifth attack on the refinery complex in just a few days, highlighting a concerning pattern of aggression against critical energy infrastructure.

The latest strike specifically impacted a diesel storage tank belonging to the Zawiya Oil Refining Company, igniting a small fire that has since been brought under control. While earlier reports indicated a drone attack in the early hours of Tuesday caused no casualties or damage, subsequent targeting of the refinery complex underscores the persistent threat.

The Zawiya refinery possesses a significant capacity of 120,000 barrels per day, making it a crucial asset for Libya's oil production and refining capabilities. The repeated attacks raise serious concerns about the security of the country's energy sector and the stability of its oil output amidst ongoing instability.
