Drunk driver evades police, faces massive fine in Turkey

Police in Bahçelievler, Turkey, attempted to stop a vehicle on Akıncılar Street during a routine check. The driver, identified as Y.Ç., failed to comply with the officers' 'stop' command and sped away, initiating a pursuit.

Officers eventually lost sight of the car but later located it parked in an apartment building's parking lot on 121st Street in the same neighborhood. A subsequent investigation revealed that Y.Ç. was driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.55 promil, significantly over the legal limit. Furthermore, his driver's license had been temporarily revoked, and the vehicle's inspection had expired.

As a result of these violations, Y.Ç. was issued an administrative fine totaling 492,719 Turkish Lira, according to relevant articles of the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918. The vehicle itself was impounded by authorities and will remain off the road for a period of 60 days.
