Drunk Man Wields Fire Extinguisher, Baton in Taitung Street Disturbance, Apprehended by Police

A drunk man caused a public disturbance in the bustling streets of Taitung City on Tuesday evening, wielding a fire extinguisher and a baton. The man, identified by the surname Kang and estimated to be around 30 years old, allegedly lost control of his emotions due to alcohol consumption near an amusement arcade.

Witnesses reported that Kang's disruptive behavior frightened passersby, causing many to avoid the area. When police arrived at the scene around 9 p.m., Kang attempted to flee, carrying the heavy fire extinguisher. He ran over 300 meters through alleys and streets before officers caught up to him near Fujian Road, just as he was about to enter a shop.

Police stated that Kang was involved in a dispute with others, holding the fire extinguisher and a baton-like object. After his apprehension, he was taken to the police station for questioning. The case has been forwarded for prosecution under the Social Order Maintenance Act. No injuries were reported among the public during the incident.
