Dutch Crown Princess Amalia shows scar from horse fall for first time

Dutch Crown Princess Amalia, 22, revealed a scar on her upper arm for the first time during the opening of the FEI World Equestrian Championships in Aachen, Germany. The mark is a result of a severe fall from her horse, Mojito, in June of the previous year, which led to a broken arm.

Following the accident, Amalia underwent surgery in Utrecht and wore her arm in a sling for some time. She subsequently opted for clothing with long sleeves for public appearances. However, at the championship event, she appeared in a sleeveless white summer dress, making the significant scar on her upper arm visible for the first time.

The fall, though not widely discussed at the time, appears to have been serious, judging by the noticeable scar. Despite the injury, the Crown Princess's passion for horses remains undiminished. She has been riding since she was four years old and is an experienced show jumper.

Amalia expressed her deep connection to equestrian sports, stating in an interview with NOS, "On a horse, I am most myself." She added, "If you really want to get to know me, you have to see me ride." The opening ceremony in Aachen was clearly a meaningful event for her, representing a lifelong love for horses that she finds difficult to articulate to others.

Earlier in the day, Amalia visited the stables, interacting with and feeding the horses. She was among several royal guests at the event, including Queen Margrethe of Denmark and Princess Benedikte, as well as Princess Elena of Spain and Zara Tindall, daughter of Britain's Princess Anne. Royal stables from the Netherlands, Denmark, and Great Britain were also featured during the opening.
