Dutch tourist dies after boat capsizes at Iguazú Falls

A tragic accident at the Iguazú Falls has claimed the life of a 26-year-old Dutch tourist. The incident occurred when a tour boat, carrying six Dutch visitors and two Brazilian crew members, capsized near the roaring cascades on the border of Brazil and Argentina. All eight individuals were rescued from the water, avoiding being swept away by the current. However, one tourist suffered a cardiac arrest and was confirmed dead after being transported to a local hospital. Two other Dutch tourists were hospitalized; a 49-year-old woman sustained a fractured foot, and a 48-year-old man remained under observation. Brazilian authorities and the police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The tour operator, Macuco Safari, which has operated in the national park for 40 years, expressed regret and is cooperating with the investigation. Nautical excursions have been suspended for three days, though the park remains open.
