Eagle Online Publisher Dotun Oladipo to Be Buried September 11

Dotun Oladipo, the publisher of The Eagle Online and a prominent media entrepreneur, will be laid to rest on September 11, 2026, his family announced. Oladipo passed away on Tuesday, August 25, at the age of 56, a death that colleagues, friends, and associates described as a profound shock.

A service of songs is scheduled for September 10 at DayStar Church in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos State, followed by the burial service at the same venue the next day. Oladipo was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Eagle Media Limited, the parent company of Eagle Online. His passing occurred after he suddenly fell ill at his office earlier the same day.

Oladipo was a foundational member and served as president of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) from 2017 to 2021. GOCOP President Danlami Nmodu lauded Oladipo's crucial role in establishing online publishers as a significant part of the media landscape in Nigeria. "Dotun played an important role in the development of GOCOP. He led the Guild for four years at a time when there was still a lot of work to be done to establish online publishers as an important part of the media. His contribution will always be remembered," Nmodu stated.

Nmodu further described Oladipo as someone who "understood journalism, and he understood the business of publishing." He was passionate about the growth of online media in Nigeria and dedicated his time to the Guild's development. Oladipo was also a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and the International Press Institute, Nigeria. President Bola Tinubu mourned Oladipo's death, acknowledging his contributions to political journalism and digital media, and emphasizing the media's role in strengthening democracy.
