‘Eagles of Civilization’ Gives Momentum to Egypt-China Military Ties

Egypt and China are deepening their military cooperation with the commencement of the "Eagles of Civilization 2026" joint air combat maneuvers. The drills, currently underway at several air bases across Egypt, represent the second major air exercise between the two nations in as many years and signal a significant advancement in their bilateral defense relationship.

According to an Egyptian military and strategic expert, the ongoing cooperation could pave the way for more extensive military collaboration. This aligns with Cairo's strategic objective to diversify its sources for military production, reducing reliance on traditional suppliers. The Egyptian military announced the start of the exercises on Saturday, confirming the involvement of various multi-role fighter aircraft.

China's Ministry of National Defense spokesperson, Senior Colonel Chen Xi, noted that the exercises, scheduled to conclude in early September, will concentrate on air combat tactics, air superiority operations, and combat search and rescue. He emphasized that this joint training is expected to enhance mutual trust, deepen substantive cooperation, and contribute to regional peace and stability.
