East Jerusalem man detained over alleged social media incitement, support for terrorism

Authorities have arrested a 21-year-old resident of east Jerusalem on suspicion of publishing content that incites against Israel and expresses support for terrorist organizations. Police announced the arrest Tuesday morning, following an investigation into videos the suspect allegedly posted online.

The suspect, who resides in the Sur Bahir neighborhood, was apprehended on Sunday. According to police statements, the videos contained statements inciting against Israel, alongside expressions of support and identification with terrorist groups and individuals.

A court reviewed the case on Monday and granted the police's request to extend the suspect's detention through Wednesday. This action underscores ongoing efforts to combat online incitement and the promotion of terrorism.

The arrest follows a separate incident last week where a man from northern Israel was detained for alleged incitement after posting comments supporting a terror attack. The comments, which included violent rhetoric against settlers, led to an investigation and a warrant for his arrest.
