Ebonyi communities embrace cement factory project

Residents of the four communities designated to host the proposed Abakaliki Cement Factory have declared their unwavering support for Governor Francis Nwifiru's initiative. They hailed the project as a landmark investment poised to restore Ebonyi State's industrial heritage and generate thousands of employment opportunities.

Speaking on behalf of the communities of Umuhuali, Nkalaha, Nkalagu, and Amezu, Senator Obinna Ogba announced their unanimous endorsement of the multi-billion-naira project. He pledged their full support for its successful implementation and commended the governor for his personal involvement, including inspecting the factory site with Chinese contractors and embarking on an investment mission to China, which led to the contract award, memorandum of agreement signing, and contractor mobilization.

Reaffirming their commitment, the residents pledged to maintain peace, unity, and adequate security to ensure a conducive environment for the factory's construction and operation. They also appealed to the state government for sustained regular consultations and engagement with community leaders and representatives throughout all phases of the project, from planning to operation. Ogba urged all parties to disregard any publications or comments issued outside the recognized official forum.
