Ebonyi professionals endorse PDP gov candidate

The Ebonyi State League of Professionals has endorsed Dr. Ifeanyi Odii, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the upcoming 2027 election. The professional body urged the state's populace to prioritize competence, integrity, and performance over zoning considerations when casting their votes, declaring Odii as the most credible candidate to reposition Ebonyi State.

Chief Anthony Nweke, Chairman of the League, stated that the decision was informed by Odii's extensive record of philanthropy and service to the people of Ebonyi. He highlighted Odii's investments in human capital development, including scholarships for indigent students, housing provisions for vulnerable citizens, business mentorship, and financial empowerment for youth. Nweke emphasized that leadership requires service, compassion, and the ability to improve people's lives, qualities he believes Odii has consistently demonstrated.

Leadership is about service, compassion and the ability to improve the lives of the people. Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii has demonstrated these qualities consistently long before seeking elective office.

While acknowledging the principle of zoning, the League stressed that competence, character, and proven performance should take precedence, especially given the state's future at stake. They asserted that no other aspirant currently possesses the credibility, experience, and humanitarian record that Dr. Odii has built over the years. The group also expressed dissatisfaction with the current administration under Governor Francis Nwifuru, citing unfulfilled campaign promises and what they termed poor handling of corruption allegations against high-ranking officials.

The League called for accountability and transparency in governance and appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and security agencies to ensure the 2027 general elections are free, fair, peaceful, and credible. They urged voters to choose performance, integrity, and visionary leadership rather than narrow political considerations.

We are not against zoning as a political arrangement. However, when the future of Ebonyi State is at stake, competence, character, and proven performance must take precedence. At the moment, we have not seen any other aspirant with the credibility, experience and humanitarian record that Dr. Odii has built over the years.
