Ebrar Karakurt sidelined from VNL due to back and hip pain

Ebrar Karakurt, a prominent figure in Turkish volleyball, is notably absent from the national team's roster for the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, sparking widespread curiosity among fans.

According to an official statement from the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF), Karakurt is sidelined due to health problems. The star player has been experiencing escalating pain in her back and hip regions following a strenuous period of matches and training.

Following the controls, after the increase in pain in the back and hip area of our national volleyball player, fluid increase in her right sacroiliac joint and bone marrow edema were detected.

Following detailed clinical evaluations and MRI scans, a treatment process has been initiated for Karakurt. To mitigate any further health risks, the decision was made to rest her during the group stage matches, including the Ankara and Japan legs of the VNL.

The TVF's official statement specified that the examinations revealed an increase in fluid in her right sacroiliac joint and bone marrow edema. This diagnosis led to the immediate commencement of her treatment and the decision to keep her out of play during the initial phases of the tournament.

It was stated that the player's treatment was started immediately after this diagnosis, and she was rested in the matches of the group stage, including the Ankara and Japan stages of the tournament, so that her health would not be put at risk.
